At CKA, preparation flows from discernment. In mentorship and prayer, students learn to listen for God’s call and to choose their next steps with wisdom, clarity, and peace.
COLLEGE COUNSELING PHILOSOPHY
The CKA College Counseling program guides students through a thoughtful process of discernment regarding their next steps in education and life. For many, this will include considering colleges and universities. With nearly 3,000 four‑year colleges in the United States alone, the options can feel daunting—private or public? Catholic or non‑Catholic? Far or close to home? There is no one‑size‑fits‑all answer.
Two questions, however, often lie at the heart of discernment:
How will a college education prepare me for my future career?
How will a college education prepare me to live life well?
The first concerns the technical means by which a young man or woman will engage the world; the second concerns the purpose for doing so. Both are essential to a full and integrated life. No single institution will answer either perfectly, and each school will have its strengths and limitations. By engaging the process prayerfully and thoughtfully—and with our ultimate fulfillment in Christ in view—students begin to see their future potential more clearly, along with their inherent dignity and purpose.
