Board of Directors
School operations are overseen by a Board of Directors with the assistance and supervision of the Superintendent of Schools of the Bridgeport Diocese. The Board is responsible for directing curriculum, setting policies, hiring of principal, finances, strategic planning, and fundraising. The board is comprised of individuals from various fields including education, law, finance, and accounting but who share the common desire to promote classical education within the framework of the school mission.
Frank Marchetti
Chair & Treasurer
Frank Marchetti owns and operates restaurants and commercial and residential real-estate investment properties in Fairfield County. Mr. Marchetti has a BS in Biology from Boston College and studied theology at the Gregorian University in Rome. Mr. Marchetti serves on the board of advisors of the Men’s Leadership Forum in New York City and the Monks of Norcia Foundation. He is active in his parish, the Basilica of Saint John the Evangelist in Stamford, and enjoys hunting, fishing, and bird watching. He currently lives in Norwalk with his wife, Sharon, and four children.
Nancy Grimm
Vice-Chair
Nancy Grimm is an intellectual property paralegal and a mother of six children. Nancy has a BA in Liberal Arts from Thomas Aquinas College, Santa Paula, where she received a classical education in the Great Books program. She has taught apologetics and catechism to adults in RCIA programs as well as those seeking to turn their lives around while incarcerated. She has also taught and tutored teens in apologetics, math, science, and standardized testing. Nancy rediscovered her love of classical studies while homeschooling her young children. She and her husband, Leon, are raising their family in Ridgefield. Two of their children are graduates of CKA, and three more currently attend.
Sandra Bethray
Secretary
Sandra Bethray received a BS in chemistry from the University of Cape Town and additionally earned a MA in education administration, statistics and research methods from the University of South Dakota. She taught chemistry and physics at King School and chaired their science department. She has worked as an adjunct chemistry professor at Marymount College, Southern Connecticut State University, and Fairfield University. She has tutored numerous high school and college undergraduates in chemistry, mathematics, and standardized testing. Mrs. Bethray lives in Stamford, where she is a parishioner of Holy Spirit. She is currently active as a certified Scottish Country Dance teacher.
Carmine Carpanzano
Carmine and his family are parishioners at St. Pius X Parish in Fairfield, CT where Carmine is also part of the St. Pius X Men’s Fellowship Ministry. Carmine has worked as a Travel Industry Executive for more than three decades, exhibiting his talent as visionary and innovator in the Business Travel Industry. As the founder, Chairman, and CEO of nuTravel Technology Solutions, he spearheaded the development of one of the first corporate online booking tools globally. He also developed Universal Connect, the travel industries first open and agnostic integration platform enabling business travelers to shop natively within airlines’ web and mobile apps while leveraging access to contract rates, corporate payment, travel policy, duty of care, reporting and more. He currently sits on the Board of Advisors of American Express Global Business Travel Network. Carmine has been involved with youth ministry in various capacities throughout the years: at St. Thomas The Apostle in Norwalk, CT, as a chaperone for Catholic Heart workcamps in different parts of the United States, and as a parent assistant to chaplain Fr. Gill at Cardinal Kung Academy.
Carmine and his wife Dawn and their family reside in Norwalk, CT. They are proud parents to a Cardinal Kung Academy alumna.
Dr. Steven Cheeseman
Dr. Cheeseman currently serves as President/CEO of National Catholic Education Association (NCEA). Prior to being appointed to NCEO by Archbishop Hartmeyer, Dr. Cheeseman served as the Superintendent of Schools in the Diocese of Bridgeport, CT for eight years. He also served as the Interim Executive Director of the Seton Collaborative in the Bridgeport Diocese. Prior to his tenure in Connecticut, Dr. Cheeseman was Associate Superintendent of Schools in the Diocese of Rockville Centre, NY and a teacher/administrator at both the elementary and secondary levels. He has also been an Adjunct Professor at St. Joseph College in Patchogue, NY and has been an Adjunct Professor at Fordham University Graduate School of Education for 15 years. Early in his career he was involved in various capacities in parish Faith Formation and Youth Ministry.
Sean Fieler
Sean Fieler is the president and CIO of Equinox Partners, a global value fund focused on emerging markets and gold mining. A graduate of Williams College with a degree in political economy, Mr. Fieler speaks and publishes on the monetary system. He has given talks on monetary policy at the annual Grant’s Conference and at the Atlas Liberty Forum. He has written for the Wall Street Journal and the Weekly Standard. Mr. Fieler serves as chairman of the American Principles Project, Communio, and the Knights of Columbus Charitable Fund. Mr. Fieler lives in Stamford with his wife Cecilia and six children.
Matthew Kelsey
Matthew K. Kelsey is a partner with Alston & Bird’s Financial Restructuring & Reorganization Group, in New York City. Mr. Kelsey’s legal practice focuses on complex in-court and out-of-court Chapter 11 matters for ad hoc creditor groups, financial institutions, agents and trustees, official committees, and debtors. Matthew provides distressed-investing advice to investment firms, hedge funds, and other financial institutions. He works in a variety of industries, including real estate, retail, pharmaceutical, infrastructure, finance, shipping, and construction sectors. He received his JD from Rutgers University School of Law, Newark, and his BA from Thomas Aquinas College. Mr. Kelsey is a member of the Sponsorship Committee of Catholic Renewal, a charitable organization that fundraises for Catholic Charities of New York and also serves on the board of Magnificat. He and his wife, Nona, are the parents of eight children including a set of triplets. They are parishioners of Saints John and Paul in Larchmont, N.Y.
Angelo Liberatore
Angelo Liberatore is an equity analyst and has worked at various bulge-bracket investment banks and well-known hedge funds for more than two decades. Mr. Liberatore has a BS in finance and a theology minor from Georgetown University. He is an active member of the Knights of Columbus, has taught catechism to middle school students, and is active in his home parish of the Immaculate Conception and Assumption of Our Lady in Tuckahoe, NY. Angelo and his wife, Colleen, live in Westchester County with their three children, one graduate and two attendees of CKA.
Barbara Logsdail
Barbara Logsdail is the mother of six children, the youngest of whom graduated from CKA. Mrs. Logsdail currently serves as principal of St. Theresa School in Trumbull, CT. Barbara has been involved in classical education for almost two decades as an educator and parent; including serving as principal for a local classical Catholic grammar school prior to joining the start-up team for CKA. She holds a BS in business management from Rowan University, New Jersey. She lives with her husband, Leonard, and family in Stamford.
Grace Melton
Grace Melton covers life, religious liberty, human rights, and social issues at the United Nations for the Heritage Foundation. Mrs. Melton has a BA in political science from Williams College. She lives with her husband, Jonathan, and family in Stamford, where they are parishioners of the parish of St. Cecilia-St. Gabriel.
Stacie Stueber
Stacie Stueber is the Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Bridgeport and serves ex officio on the board for Cardinal Kung Academy. Stacie is a life-long educator, having previously worked in the Diocese of Rockville Centre as a teacher for both elementary and high school levels and principal of a PK-8 school. She received her BA from Sacred Heart University, a MA from SUNY Stony Brook, a MS from Fordham University in Catholic School Leadership, and an Advanced Certificate from Fordham University in School District Leadership.
Dana Whamond
Dana Whamond is a Landscape Designer and an advocate for classical studies from a Catholic perspective. Mrs. Whamond received a BA in Art History and Minor in Commercial Photography from Syracuse University. As a member of the Junior League of Greenwich, she co-chaired the Byram Pool project, a public-private partnership with the Town of Greenwich, to build a new outdoor public pool facility. In 2016, she graduated from the NY Botanical Garden School of Professional Horticulture. Her company, Sky Meadow Gardens, designs landscapes for commercial and residential clients. Her daughter attends Cardinal Kung Academy. She and her family reside in Old Greenwich, CT and are parishioners of St. Clement of Rome in Stamford, CT.
